I was born in Thailand to Thai parents and grew up in Canada. I have a Thai name, a Thai house registration, and I am a Thai citizen by birth but I know exactly what it's like to arrive here from the West, because I did it too.

I spent years visiting Thailand and the region as a tourist, then in 2015 I sold everything, left Canada, and moved back for good. After more than ten years living here full-time, I've seen both sides: Thailand as a tourist, and Thailand as a long-term resident. They are two very different places, and most guides only show you one.
